This first lunation of 2021 is a potent significator of the times ahead; with the new moon in Capricorn in tight relationship to Pluto, where Alchemist meets Banshee.
The Capricorn structures that hold the power in our world have been teetering for quite a while now, revealing their under belly of rot and distortion, and this process is set to accelerate. The Tower symbol from the Tarot deck is an evocative image that speaks to this lunar month. The banshee howl of Pluto alerts us to the immediate necessity to address all that is shadowed within us, will we continue to invest in this present (eroding) paradigm? Or will we ally with the death crone who reminds us that new life can only arise from the ashes of the old, born from the place of ‘letting go’.
There is clearly a significant message occurring at this new moon; the dark moon ‘ending’...
A powerful new moon solar eclipse in Sagittarius evokes our yearning for freedom and a new vision. Our urge may be to aim arrows in many directions; anything to release us from perceived ‘stuckness’ and the recycling of our old story lines.
Hold your horses Miz Archeress! There is a greater calling announcing itself here, the need to listen deeply to the intuition for that is the place where your greater vision resides. One of your attributes is this connection with the higher mind, enabling you
to see the big picture: what could be ‘possible’. Just remember to tether the fiery impulse toward immediate action that is not thought through.
The wisdom of the rune stones reminds us "do not attempt to go beyond where you have not yet begun”. Because eclipses are closely tied in...
Journeying with the Amazonian Arts is like following spiral patterns of learning and rediscovery. One core principle I have repeatedly felt into with my whole being and examined with a curious mind is the reclaiming of the Fierce Feminine. My first impression was that it simply felt right. An instinctive knowing that there is a part in me that feels the call to wake up—a part that feels even urged to do so. So what is it, this part in me, slumbering in a kind of drug-induced sleep? I call it my Wild Woman. I can feel her when I am connecting and communing with nature and spirit. When the time is right the protective barriers and armouring will make way for the reconciliation with the sacred masculine—and she will awaken. But why is she asleep in the first place?
Wild Woman
My soul has chosen to be born into a family reenacting all the shadow sides of transgenerational traumas. In the absence of whole and balanced...
No matter where you live, there is some nature to connect with somewhere within reach. If you look for it, you will find it, and it is in fostering that connection that it begins to grow. What commonalities do you share with that plant? That spider? That blade of grass? In what ways are your experiences of life shared? If you don’t know, try zooming in. You can do this in many ways, but one is through an intentional meditation where you focus on something in nature. Keep your attention soft and receptive. Invite in curiosity as to the relationship that exists between you both. Deeply listen. The rational mind is not your friend in this process. Suspend disbelief. Journal what comes. Repeat this process for a time.
What you attend to really does begin to augment in your life. This is indeed incredible and mysterious, and it is also evidence-based quantum mechanics.
What are you paying attention to?
Are you seeing the...
Akai (my dog) has an interest in ‘flutter-bys’ of all descriptions. She is even more passionate in this field than she is as an aspiring ornithologist in which she devotes some hours every day. Yet Akai’s interest in lepidopterology has one peculiar distinction to that of your regular student studying moths and butterflies, and that is that she is interested primarily in their shadows …
Although Akai has seen the ‘flutter-by’ itself, her interest in the form is only to locate where the shadow will fall. Then the chase is on. Can she keep her nose on it despite its sudden swerves and varying intensities as the ‘flutter-by’ itself rises and falls? I have often watched her do so admirably for they give her quite the chase. It doesn’t seem to have come to her attention though that she never gets to the bottom of these pursuits, but rather, she seems to be infinitely captivated by the never-ending chase…...
The patriarchal theme of the Alchemist runs deep in my life. Programmed to believe my father’s narrative about high achieving and a good education, I obediently did my very best. Despite my soul longing for a career in music, I ended up with a degree in structural engineering and found myself “mindlessly building soul-less structures” (as the Alchemist shares of her shadow in her Pathway), designing tall buildings as monuments to the patriarchy out of concrete and steel.
My wild feminine nature rebelled, “No longer will I toil thus!” So I left Australia for 13 years to explore the world and life, during which I lived in India, learning the alchemies of Yoga and Meditation and ran a jewellery business designing alchemical symbols in silver and semi-precious stones.
However, having been brought up in such a controlled and sheltered environment, I was quite naive. Very quickly I fell into the “Devil’s” trap of...
The veil has been pulled aside and the call to the underworld is powerful at this dark moon in Scorpio. This is the home of the Banshee; the dark cave of our deepest fears and greatest vulnerabilities but also a bed of rich emotional fertility. If one is willing to traverse this landscape and release that which is ready to return to the ‘mother'; a death process, then our rebirth is assured.
Banshee medicine speaks to us of purification and regeneration at the level of emotional soul and under this moon influence, we can feel moody and oversensitive. Steeped deeply in our feeling selves; particularly our compulsions, we often feel there is an inner battle waging within and we are fighting for our lives. We may lash out in our vulnerable state and direct those psychic daggers at our perceived attackers, for there are no half measures here when we plunge into the Banshees abyss.
Each of the 13 Warrioresses is aligned with a zodiac sign, but many of you will not be familiar with the zodiac sign for Medicine Woman, which is Ophiuchus (a-few-chus).
Ophiuchus is known mythologically as the snake handler and the well-known astrologer, Demetra George, talks about the snake as a primary symbol of feminine transformative power. Demetra discusses a constellation group that she believes is ushering us through this transition between World Ages, from the personal to the collective, and this constellation group has two snake constellations that run alongside them: Hydra, the sea serpent; and Serpens, the snake handler, who is also known as Ophiuchus. Although Ophiuchus has long been in the path of the apparent sun along with the other 12 Zodiac signs, she, like the 13th Fairy Goddess Mother, has been cast out, rejected, and denied. Yet, every year she spends more and more time in...
